Australia’s growing and ageing population has resulted in the increased demand for the modernisation of the healthcare system to meet the country’s growing needs. The Australia Bureau of Statistics shows that healthcare is the largest industry by employment. Read the report.

The Australian government has committed to the digitisation of health documentation, or electronic medical records (EMR). However, medical transcriptionists as highly trained professionals play a critical supporting role in the recording of patient data.
