Pediatric verses Adult Diagnosis Code

Official guidelines or instructions have not been created to differentiate between pediatric and adult diagnoses except for a few specific codes such as pediatric body mass index codes. Age instructions for codes Z00.121, Encounter for routine child health examination with abnormal findings or Z00.00, Encounter for general adult medical examination without abnormal findings are NOT part of the official ICD-10-CM classification, but are edits used by payers and supported by publishers of separate codebooks.
